Where to Park

Explore where to park based on your permit type.

Standard Permit

With a standard permit, your status (commuter, resident, Greek Village or faculty/staff) is set automatically. All permits are valid 24/7.

Commuters can park in yellow and orange color-coded areas.

Resident
Residents can park in blue and orange color-coded areas.

Greek Village residents can park in white and orange color-coded areas.

Faculty/Staff Standard
Faculty and staff may park in non-gated green, yellow and orange lots, as well as most blue lots (except Lot 16).

Non-Standard Permits

Special parking options are tailored for unique needs or specific locations. Availability and privileges vary, depending on the permit type.

Night
Night permits are valid between 3 p.m. and 8 a.m. in all yellow and orange color-coded areas. Access granted to Lot 15 and Cone Deck (1 and 2 only; not Visitor) from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Motorcycle/Moped
Motorcycle and moped owners can park in specially-designated areas by purchasing a motorcycle permit, which grants access to these reserved spots.
Dubois Center and UNC Charlotte Center City
Center Center Building-Only
Students with classes only at the Dubois Center, and faculty or staff working uptown, may purchase a Center City Building-Only permit. This permit is not valid on the main campus.

Faculty/Staff Premium
Faculty and staff who add premium parking access may park in gated green areas and premium-only lots, like Lot 15. These options are in addition to standard faculty and staff parking.

Discount Remote Parking

Commuter students, faculty and staff can buy discounted permits for lots farther from central campus. Quantities are limited and may sell out. During the summer, discount permits can be upgraded to standard permits for a $30 fee.

Lot 6A
Lot 6A, located on Cameron Blvd., has designated areas for discounted parking. Served by the Silver Niner Transit route.

Lot 27
Lot 27 on Alumni Way, near the Harris Alumni House, is a walk-in parking lot. The nearest Niner Transit stop is just over 0.1 miles away.

North Deck
North Deck is available only to commuter students — either annually or by semester. Served by the Green and Gold Niner Transit Routes.
