Would you try a Week Without Driving?

Parking and Transportation Services is partnering with Centralina to promote a Week Without Driving at Charlotte.

From Monday, Sept. 29 to Sunday, Oct. 5, we’re encouraging students, faculty and staff to try alternative ways of getting to, from and around campus, as long as it’s not driving a car.

Nearly one third of Americans can’t drive or don’t have access to a car. A Week Without Driving is a national awareness campaign that highlights the challenges these individuals face, as well as the steps our communities can take to help improve mobility and transit access.

Transportation ideas

The only rule of the challenge is you can’t drive yourself – everything else is fair game! Here are some ideas to get started:

Lime is offering 50% off rides nationwide with promo code AMERICAWALKS. It’s the perfect time to try a Lime e-bike or e-scooter on campus!

The goal

The goal of a Week Without Driving is to help all of us understand the challenges of getting around without a car in a car-centered environment. If you try a new mode of transportation, share it social media with the hashtag #WeekWithoutDriving. But if you realize the only realistic way to get to your destination is by driving a car, that’s also worth sharing.
