E-scooters and Bikes
Lime
Lime provides affordable, short-term bike and e-scooter rentals on campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Simply download the Lime app to set up your new account with your @charlotte.edu email address. Users with existing Lime accounts must sign in with their University email to receive reduced-rate pricing.
Find an available vehicle near you using the app’s GPS map, then scan the vehicle’s QR code to begin your ride.
We strongly encourage you to bring a helmet to wear while riding.
Cost to rent
Option 1: Ride Packages
Purchase a ride package before renting a vehicle.
- $13.99 for 60 minutes, unused minutes expire after three (3) days
- $22.99 for 100 minutes, unused minutes expire after three (3) days
- $52.99 for 200 minutes, unused minutes expire after thirty (30) days
Option 2: Pay-as-you-go
- $1 fee to unlock, $0.29 per minute
Option 3: Lime Prime Subscription
- $5.99 per month for unlimited free unlocks, $0.29 per minute.
Rules
- Vehicles must be parked in a designated hub.
- Failure to return a vehicle to a hub at the end of a reservation will result in a fine.
- Riders must walk e-scooters through restricted areas. Scooters reduce speeds to six miles per hour or less in restricted areas.
Penalties
Improper use of or damage to vehicles may result in progressive fines, including account suspension or termination.

Vehicles may be taken to shopping areas on N. Tryon St. and University Boulevard. Riders may use the hold feature in the Lime app to pause their reservation for up to 10 minutes.
Bicycle lockers
Bike lockers, available to anyone with a valid full-year UNC Charlotte parking permit, are located in Union Deck, CRI, North, and South Village parking decks and Lot 27. There is a $15 per semester or $40 per year charge to those who do not have a valid, full-year UNC Charlotte parking permit.
