Center City parking changes for Lovin’ Life Music Fest

Due to the Lovin’ Life Music Fest from May 3 to May 5 in Uptown, parking and traffic will be impacted at and around the Dubois Center at UNC Charlotte Center City beginning Saturday, April 27. The Dubois Center at UNC Charlotte Center City will be closed from Friday, May 3 through Sunday, May 5.

During this time, UNC Charlotte affiliates are strongly encouraged to take LYNX light rail to avoid parking and traffic disruptions. 

As a reminder, all students who have paid the Transportation Misc. Service Charge may ride LYNX light rail and CATS buses fare-free by showing their All-Access Transit Pass in the CATS-Pass app to the fare inspector or driver. Learn more about how to set up your All-Access Transit Pass.

Parking impacts

From Saturday, April 27 through Tuesday, May 7, 2024, the following locations will be closed:

  • 300 N. Brevard Lot
  • 410 N. Brevard Lot 
  • 300 E. 9th St. Lot 
  • 319 E. 9th St. Lot
  • 625 N. Brevard St. Lot
  • 422 E. 9th St. Lot (Primary parking for the Dubois Center)
  • First Ward Field (419 East 7th St.)

Parking alternatives

From Saturday, April 27 through Thursday, May 2, 2024, and Monday, May 6 through Tuesday, May 7, 2024, UNC Charlotte Dubois Center parking permits will be temporarily valid in the following lots:

  • 219 E. 7th St. Lot
  • 424 N. College St. Lot

Because of these lot closures and parking modifications, you can expect additional congestion around the Dubois Center. Please leave yourself plenty of additional time to find the best available parking and to walk from the parking location to the Dubois Center. 

NOTE: From May 3 through May 5, all lots around the Dubois Center will be reserved for event parking only. UNC Charlotte parking permissions will not be valid.

Visitor parking

Visitors to the Dubois Center at UNC Charlotte Center City may park in the 219 E. 7th St. Lot or the 424 N. College St. Lot paying at the pay station or using ParkMobile.

Street closures

The following street closures will occur from 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 30 to 6 a.m., Tuesday, May 7:

  • 8th Street from Caldwell Street to the light rail tracks
  • 7th Street from Caldwell Street to Brevard Street

The following street closures will occur from 10 a.m., Thursday, May 2 to 6 a.m., Monday, May 6:

  • Brevard Street from 6th Street to 9th Street
  • 9th Street from Caldwell Street to the light rail tracks
  • 7th Street from Brevard Street to the light rail tracks

Caldwell Street from 6th Street to 9th Street will close one hour before to one hour after each day’s concert, except after the last concert. Caldwell Street will remain closed and reopen by 6 a.m., Monday, May 6.
